Admissions Ambassador - Kassy
Name: Kassy Thompson
Major: Elementary Education
Home Town: Crawford, Neb.
High School: Crawford High School
What attracted you to your major? I enjoy watching and helping kids learn and grow, so elementary education was the obvious pick for me. I liked school so much that I’ve decided to keep going back!
What are you involved in on campus? I am an Admissions Ambassador for CSC. I am also a member of Student Senate. I serve as a Junior Senator for the school of EHPCPSW. This helps me to have a voice for others and myself on campus issues. I am a member of Campus Crusade for Christ as well.
What is your favorite spot on campus? My favorite spot on campus is C-Hill. I love climbing to the top and being able to see the entire campus and all of its beautiful scenery. I also really enjoy being in the Nelson Physical Activity Center. There are many activities to take part in at the PAC. I can use the weight or cardio rooms, the basketball or volleyball courts, or even the racquetball courts.
What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class is any class that is specific to education and teaching. These classes have shown me that education is definitely the field I want to go in to. I also really enjoy my history classes. Dr. Hyer always keeps history interesting.
What do you do in your free time? In my free time, I enjoy exercising and playing sports in the PAC. It has nice equipment to use. I also enjoy reading, baking and spending time with my friends. Playing “Apples to Apples” is another fun way to spend free time in the dorms.
Why did you choose Chadron State College? Growing up only 30 minutes from Chadron State, I had the opportunity to use the campus before becoming a student here. Originally, I thought it was too close to home, but after talking to CSC staff and faculty, I changed my mind. Also, Chadron State is well known for its teacher education program.
