Admissions Ambassador - Caitlin

Caitlin SpencerName: Caitlin Spencer

Major: Business Administration, Management

Home Town: Mullen, Neb.

High School: Mullen High School

What attracted you to your major? I didn’t originally come to school at CSC, and after my first year of college I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. Picking up a major in business, I knew I could be diverse in the future, but also could specialize in a certain aspect of the field. I love meeting new people and helping them with their problems, so with a major in business I can work with people and customers every day and develop relationships with them.

What are you involved in on campus? I think it is very important to be involved on campus. I participate in various intramural sports, and I am also an active member of Phi Beta Lambda and am this year’s president of the business honor society, Delta Mu Delta. I also work at the library on campus, and spend a lot of time there studying and working.

What is your favorite spot on campus? My favorite place on campus is the library. Ever since I was little, I have loved reading, which attracted me to the library when I first came to school here. Working at the library has been a great experience, and I have learned more than I thought possible. I love going there to work, do homework and relax when I have some downtime between classes.

What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class so far has been Principles of Management. My teacher made it a lot of fun, and it made me realize that I would like my emphasis in business to be management. I love working with people, and we did a lot of group projects that required brainstorming and teamwork.

What do you do in your free time? In my free time I spend a lot of time hanging out with my friends, playing the piano, reading and working out at the Nelson Physical Activity Center. My friends and I like playing games and watching movies, and I love going to the NPAC because of the great atmosphere and the opportunity to do different activities on the machines and get in a good workout.

Why did you choose Chadron State College? Being a transfer student from the University of Wyoming, I chose CSC because I felt welcome right away and comfortable on my visit. My professors made the transition very smooth, and I am closer to home and can get a quality education for an affordable price. I love the beautiful campus and the small class sizes, along with everything that a small town has to offer. As secluded as we are, we are also close to Rapid City, Scottsbluff and Casper if I ever need a day out of town.
