Admissions Ambassador - Jared

Jared Hanson Name: Jared Hanson

Major: Business Administration/Finance

Home Town: Broken Bow, Neb.

High School: Broken Bow High School

What attracted you to your major? I have always been interested in business. My mother was a banker so I was constantly around her job when I was younger. Being around her bank so much made me realize how much I enjoyed working with numbers and problem solving. This passion just continued to grow ever since.

What are you involved in on campus? I am involved in Blue Key Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta, and am also a member of the Chadron State Football Team. All these activities make me a better person and provide great interaction among students and faculty.

What is your favorite spot on campus? My favorite spot on campus is C-Hill. I think this spot really resembles how proud I am to have accomplished the things I have here at Chadron. The giant C on the hill is a great focal point for our college and community. It may be a bit of a hike, but it provides a spectacular view as well.

What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class thus far has been my astronomy class which was very educational. Learning about the stars and constellations really fascinated me. It truly opened my eyes to how interesting and incomprehensible space can be. The lab that came with the class was also fun as it took a more active approach. Viewing the stars through telescopes and using the planetarium was really remarkable.

What do you do in your free time? During my free time I really just like to relax and hang out with friends. I enjoy listening to music, playing cards, and being outdoors. During winter and spring months after the football season is over I also like taking part in the intramural activities.

Why did you choose Chadron State College? I chose Chadron State College because after visiting I really just felt at home. The tuition was reasonable and even though the community was small, the college offers vast activities to help pass time when not studying. I also really liked the idea that none of my classes were going to be extremely large so I could develop relationships with all my teachers.
